How can i make my nail grow in a couple of days?

today the tip of my thumb nail (white part) broke off while i was trying to get a book out of my locker. my nails are usually strong because i care for them well, but it jut broke off and now it is shorter and stubby. i am getting a manicure on friday and i want my nail to grow long enough to be able to be filed and long enough to paint. and its very hard to type on my phone?
